The Management Team
The specialist HBI management team is led by Barry Clare, architect of Boots Healthcare International, the branded OTC arm of Boots which was subsequently sold to Reckitt Benckiser. The original team has more than 100 combined years of experience in identifying and commercialising new and unique healthcare products and brand opportunities whilst at Boots and other leading healthcare and consumer goods companies.
Barry Clare | Chairman & CEO
Barry has had a long career in healthcare and consumer products, including twelve years at the Boots Company PLC, where he was a main Board Director, as well as a non-executive Director of Standard Chartered Bank. Barry is a Founding Partner of Clarat Partners LLP, which he established with David Karat in 2003 to facilitate private equity investments in healthcare assets. He is also Chairman of Selective Beauty, an international fine fragrance distribution business, and a Founder and Director of Intermezzo Capital, a company offering loan products for General Partners (GPs), Leveraged Buy-Out (LBO) transaction managers and other professional market participants to finance their investments in funds and private equity transactions. Until recently, he was also Chairman of the German generic pharmaceutical firm Betapharm, and Lichtwer, an OTC phytopharma firm. Both transactions were completed with the backing of 3i and were successfully sold in 2006.

Dr. Robert Gilbert | Chief Technical Officer
Robert Gilbert has a PhD in pharmacology from Cambridge, and has spent his career in consumer health. These include ten years in Dental and Skin Products at Unilever, where he spent three years as Head of European Skincare Development based in Hamburg, Germany. From 1994 Robert worked for The Boots Company, at Boots Healthcare International (BHI) and at Boots the Chemist where he spent three years as Category General Manager of OTC Medicines and Vitamins. From 2001 to 2006 Robert was on the BHI Executive, responsible for the Technical Function and New Product Development. He also had responsibility for the prescription Dermatology business in Germany, Hermal GmbH. Robert left BHI in March 2006 following the acquisition by Reckitt Benckiser, and joined HBI on our set up in July 2006.

Bryan Rigg | Chief Financial Officer
Bryan is a mathematics graduate of Cambridge University and Chartered Accountant. He has more than ten years experience in healthcare and consumer products including both operational and strategic finance roles at Boots Healthcare International. His most recent roles have been as Group Finance Director of Amtico, the private equity backed luxury flooring company and Vice President of Finance & Legal Affairs at Avon Cosmetics UK.

William Cotton | Chief Operating Officer
William Cotton has 23 years of experience in Health and Beauty at the Boots Company, with international experience in both retailing and consumer healthcare marketing. Between 1984 and 1998 he worked in a wide variety of Marketing, Buying and General Management roles for Boots The Chemists, both in the UK and overseas. From 1998 until 2000 he was Managing Director of Crookes Healthcare with the additional responsibility for the Boots Healthcare International businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Between 2000 and 2007 he was Managing Director of Boots Retail International with responsibility for the Boots Brand overseas. He developed the brand across North America, Russia , Asia and Middle East and created a key platform for further international growth.
